Electricity Cable Theft And Lightening

We received word yesterday that there was once again attempted cable theft in the region of Vowe and Steabler Street. The result: Areas in town is still without power while Maluti-A-Phofung contractors are working endlessly to try and resolve the issues.

And today, lightening struck

Mini sub station was struck by lightening and will need repairs.

This left the whole town without power. Some areas around town is still without power and there is presently no ETA on when this will be repaired.

ELECTRICITY OUTAGE HARRISMITH AND SURROUNDS
 
We have just spoken to Baby at the Electricity Call Centre. Maluti A Phofung is on site and busy assessing the damage to electricity due to lightening.  They will do their best to restore most areas in town, but, some houses and businesses will not be restored.
 
Call Centre requested that each household and business send them an sms with their address, name and contact number so that they can start listing those affected.

HARRISMITH ELECTRICITY – VOWE AND BOYS STREET

Most areas of town have been restored again. However, some houses within Boys and Vowe Street will have no power due to the damage to the Sub Station. Call Center confirmed that the information has been transmitted to the Maluti-A-Phofung Director. No ETA can be given on when the electricity will be restored on these areas.

To date, the affected areas are:
Vowe, Percy, areas in Warden Street, Mauritz and Steabler street. We will update you as we receive news.
P.S: One more thing regarding these areas mentioned on this letter. MAP is still completing the installation of the stolen cables that took place during the weekend.
